The hotel offered a friendly vibe, and I truly appreciated the thoughtful staff—most were attentive, especially during check-in, but there was one encounter that left me wanting a bit more warmth. The complimentary breakfast was indeed a highlight, featuring well-prepared options like perfectly cooked grits, which brought a taste of southern hospitality to my mornings. My partner was left hanging when she hit the breakfast area only to find an empty egg and coffee station. Little hiccups, but still worth mentioning! Now, while the hotel boasts solid amenities like free Wi-Fi and an outdoor pool – perfect for unwinding after a day of meetings – I must express my disappointment with the handicap-accessible room we had. It was not as accommodating as I had hoped, given that grabbing bars in the bathroom don’t really cut it if you have to step over a tub to reach them. I ended up checking out a bit earlier than planned due to a system issue, which caused a mix-up with my billing. Thankfully, the front desk lady made a note, but the follow-through was lacking, resulting in a charge for two extra nights. Credit will come, but it still left a sour taste after my many stays there over the years. While Hampton Inn Kinston has its strengths—great breakfast, friendly staff, and a good location for exploring local attractions like the Civil War-era sites—I can't help but feeling uncertain about my future stays there given this visit's logistical hiccups.
